Graphite electrode prices in China soften more than expected in August

SteelOrbis recently reported on the downward trend in graphite electrode prices in China. According to the latest IC Carbon report that includes August information, the monthly average pricing for UHP (ultra-high powered) 600 graphite grade in August trended down to RMB 80,000/mt ($11,713/mt) while the HP (high-powered) 450 graphite grade trended to RMB 46,000/mt ($6,735/mt), all prices ex-warehouse.

The UHP monthly average price declined RMB 36,000/mt from RMB 116,000/mt in July, down 31 percent. The HP monthly average price declined RMB 27,750/mt from RMB 73,750/mt in July, down 38 percent.
